GCSEC

The Grant County special education committee needed a webpage to communicate to parents the services they could provide to students with special needs.

FINAL SOLUTION:

We applied user feedback regarding the organization and presentation of our webpage, while adhering to client guidelines, content requirements, and branding in order to satisfy both of our user groups.

final design

For each department page, we split apart the content provided into tabs in order to better organize information and allow users to navigate to relavant content easilly.

We also designed home and community pages with the relevant information that our client requested.

bACKGROUND

The Grant County Special Education Committee is dedicated to ensuring the inclusion of every student, including those that might need additional accommodations during school. To this end, they needed a website that communicated the amenities for these students that they provided.

USER GROUP

The user group we targeted in this project were parents of students who required extra accommodations at school.

Ideation

We started by experimenting with layouts and design choices as GCSEC already had specific information and content that they needed us to display to the audience.

Sketching

After completing our sketches, we continued to refine our design through higher-fidelity wireframes in order to experiment with the provided branding scheme.

Content

USER TESTING

We conducted user testing with our wireframes in order to gain insight into the effectiveness and appeal of our design. Our users came back to us with valuable insight.

Users found that the content provided a satisfactory amount of information.

Colors

Users wanted the website to make use of more appealing, contrasting colors. However, due to client constraints, we were unable to use alternative colors. Instead, we focused on using contrasting elements of our existing color scheme to our advantage.

Layout

Users wanted a catalog of available information displayed to them in the landing page, and for us to move the more detailed information to their own dedicated pages.
